We believe in helping others
Our mission is to provide clothing, food, clean water, and supplies to those in need and to help them find sustainable ways to improve their lives. We want to educate, empower, and enlighten our community about the issues of those in need. We believe that access to clothing, food, and clean water are basic human rights. We believe that God requires us to help those in need (St. Matthew 25:35-40). We believe that by taking the focus off our ourselves and turning it towards others, God will bless us abundantly (Proverbs 22:9).
We believe in four basic core values:
In Memory of Vance R. King
The VRK Food Bank was established in 2015 by Cornerstone Refuge Church of Christ in memory of one of its faithful members, Vance R. King. Vance was a faithful member of Cornerstone Refuge Church of Christ located in Manassas, Virginia, and was under the leadership of District Elder Floyd J Holmes, II for 29 years. He was very active at Cornerstone Church. He was a musician at Cornerstone Refuge (he played the bass guitar), a member of the usher board, operated the Cornerstone Church Sweet Shop, and faithfully did whatever his hands found him to do. His favorite scripture was Matthew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
To continue his work of helping others, Cornerstone Refuge Church of Christ established the VRK Food Bank in his honor. We provide food to those in need and also help them to find sustainable ways to improve their lives. We hope that one day those who we have helped will then extend a helping hand to someone else in need. We rely entirely on food and financial support from our CRCC members, volunteers, caring individuals, and organizations.
Vance’s heart was helping others. There are many people who are in a financial crisis and need help. Please help us continue the good work that Vance started by giving generously to this worthwhile endeavor.
“He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.”
