India

India, officially the Republic of India is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the southwest, and the Bay of Bengal on the southeast, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west; China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north; and Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; its Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand, Myanmar, and Indonesia. The nation’s capital city is New Delhi.

India is a developing nation. Although its economy is growing, poverty is still a major challenge. India’s impoverished communities suffer from a lack of education, pervasive gender bias, and some of the most extreme poverty in the world. Poor hygienic conditions make life miserable for those who live in informal settlements.

33 children die before their 5th birthday

The VRK Food Bank has been working diligently to bless the people of India. Thanks to our generous donors and volunteers, this year we were able to send three barrels to India to help those in need. Two barrels were filled with clothes, crayons, toys, composition books, pencils and other items for children. A third barrel included masks, antibacterial hands wipes, and hand sanitizer, items for the clinic, clothing, and supplies for children and adults. We are currently preparing for our fourth barrel for Christmas. This barrel will be filled with clothes, toys, and Christmas goodies. In addition to the barrels, we are also able to send financial support to India to help those in need receive the COVID-19 vaccine during this pandemic crisis. The funds also assisted in the purchasing of food and clothing.
